So small, yet so hated! Blackheads appear mostly on the nose, forehead and sometimes even on the chin, and are the worst enemies of clean and smooth skin. They appear as small dark spots, due to the oxidation of impurities and sebum trapped in the pores. To eliminate blackheads, you need to take care of your skin, starting with cleansing. Before showing you our three-step routine, let's try to understand what blackheads really are.
Scientific Definition and Causes of Blackheads
From a scientific point of view, blackheads are open comedones, or small blockages that form in the pores due to excess sebum, dead cells and impurities. When this mixture comes into contact with air, it oxidizes, taking on the typical dark color. That's why they are black! You may have noticed that blackheads form mostly on the nose and forehead: these areas are in fact characterized by more active sebaceous glands, which is why blackheads are so frequent there! Blackheads can have multiple causes. There is obviously a genetic predisposition, as well as hormonal changes, but it is above all the use of cosmetics that do not allow the skin to breathe that causes them.
Localization of blackheads
Blackheads are concentrated in some specific areas of the face, mainly in the so-called “T-zone” – forehead, nose and chin – where the sebaceous glands are most active. Less frequently (luckily!) we also find them on the cheeks, chest and back, especially in the presence of oily skin. Wherever blackheads are located, with a thorough cleansing routine, it is possible to visibly reduce their presence.
How to remove blackheads
Understanding how to remove blackheads is simple, but requires perseverance! The first piece of advice, however, concerns something you should NEVER do: squeeze blackheads. This gesture irritates the skin and consequently increases the possibility of contracting infections. Prefer a softer approach with a purifying mask, which dissolves sebum, naturally freeing the pores. Once you have eliminated the blackheads, use a moisturizing and soothing cream to maintain the natural balance of the skin.
How to prevent blackheads from forming
Once eliminated, blackheads… come back! Or at least, they do if you don’t follow a proper skincare routine and don’t use non-aggressive purifying products, suitable for your skin type. Daily cleansing and periodic exfoliation must always be present, in order to remove impurities and dead cells. The choice of cosmetics is also crucial: prefer non-comedogenic products, formulated not to clog pores. These small measures can make a big difference in preventing the formation of impurities and keeping the skin clean and fresh.
3-Step Blackhead Skincare Made in Ixya
Ixya offers a simple yet effective three-step routine to help you eliminate and prevent blackheads.
1. Double Cleansing with Thermal Cleansing Butter and Thermal Cleansing Mousse
We start with a double cleansing: the Thermal Cleansing Butter removes makeup, leaving the skin fresh and hydrated, while the Thermal Cleansing Mousse gently cleanses, eliminating impurities without drying the skin. This first step prepares your face for the next treatments, freeing the pores from surface residues.
2. Scrub with Thermal Volcanic Scrub
The second step involves a delicate massage with the Thermal Volcanic Scrub , a gel scrub enriched with fine-grained volcanic lava powders. This product gently exfoliates, removing dead cells and making the skin brighter and fresher. It is ideal for refining the skin texture and preventing the formation of blackheads.
3. Weekly Application of Thermal Mud Mask
Once a week, perform a treatment with the Thermal Mud Mask, which purifies and regenerates the epidermis, absorbing toxins and leaving the skin visibly cleaner and healthier.
